A resurgent the Russian player claimed his first championship for 882 days with victory over opponent Moutet in the competition championship match.

Medvedev, a former top-ranked player, has experienced a torrid year, managing just a single victory at the Grand Slams and suffering a difficult moment at the US Open.

Medvedev's varied form on the tennis tour - and issues with his serve in particular - resulted in him dropping out of the world's top 10 and finally separating with former coach his previous coach.

Currently collaborating with his coach and his other coach, the tennis star has gradually advanced in the last few weeks - peaking in a closely contested competitive triumph over challenger Moutet.

This marks Medvedev's first title since the Rome competition and maiden on a hardcourt from spring of the previous year.

The win also means he has secured 21 victories at twenty-one distinct events.

"For the first time I am participating in a competition with my two daughters at once, so to secure a trophy is especially meaningful," commented tennis professional Medvedev.

"This victory is in dedication of my younger daughter my daughter, because the maiden victory I got when my first daughter Alisa was born was for her."

The athlete, the 2021 US Open champion, had failed in his previous six title deciders, comprising in Halle earlier this year.

The player's defensive play style and recurring emotional displays on court had led some to doubt if his skill to play at the elite level was over.

Yet the player has altered his approach in recent weeks, making an effort to come to the net and compete positively, backed up by an improved serve.

The champion recovered from a break down in the initial set against the challenging Moutet, winning 4 of the last five points to go ahead.

Both players exchanged break points in the following set before the Frenchman, striving for his initial ATP Tour title, gained dominance to force a third set.

The opponent saved 4 early-game break points in a close deciding set before Medvedev won the break to that score to secure the win.

Appropriately, the winner earned victory with a point at the front of the court, with his opponent incapable to handle a return after a lengthy match.
