PSG Defeats Marseille in a Shootout to Secure Trophee des Champions Super Cup in Kuwait.

PSG players celebrating

The Parisian club has now claimed the prestigious trophy on fourteen different occasions.

The Parisian giants required a stoppage-time equaliser followed by a successful penalty shootout to overcome their arch-rivals in Kuwait and capture a fourth straight French Super Cup title.

The Champions League holders seemed to be sailing towards a straightforward triumph in the match between the French league champions and the Coupe de France winners after Ousmane Dembele found the scoring early on.

Yet, Marseille fired twice in the closing moments to take a surprise lead. Initially, the English forward converted from the spot-kick, before the defender inadvertently directed the ball into his own net for an own goal.

In a remarkable turn of events, the Portuguese striker grabbed a crucial leveler in the dying moments to send the match into a penalty shootout. The Parisian shot-stopper Lucas Chevalier then emerged as the key figure, stopping crucial kicks from O'Riley and Traore.

From the spot, Goncalo Ramos, Vitinha, Nuno Mendes, and Desire Doue all scored successfully for Paris Saint-Germain to complete a 4-1 shootout victory.

Now 14-time winners Paris Saint-Germain, who met last season's Ligue 1 second-placed team Olympique de Marseille after achieving a domestic double, have now lifted this competition for the twelfth time in the last 13 seasons.
