Area Police
Approximately fifty vehicles have been smeared with what seems to be human blood in the German municipality of Hanau close to Frankfurt, as reported by authorities.
Automobiles, exterior walls and postboxes were vandalized, occasionally with Nazi symbols, they stated in a official communication.
Police say they were notified during the night on Wednesday night, when a resident observed that a vehicle in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been covered with a red-colored liquid.
The substance had been applied in the pattern of a Nazi symbol, they reported.
Law enforcement then located numerous other vandalized cars and building exteriors in the surrounding area.
These symbols are prohibited in Germany under laws outlawing the public display of Nazi-era symbols.
Officials state initial examinations suggest the liquid was probably human blood.
"Currently there is no indication as to where it came from; officials are currently not cognizant of any physical harm in connection with the incident," they added.
Local authorities stated they were attempting "to unravel the incident" and have requested to the residents for tips.
A high-ranking official said the incident left him without words and required to be solved rapidly.
"This incident hits the core of Hanau and revives the trauma of the right-wing attack in 2020," he posted on social media, recalling the murder of nine people by a gunman aiming at residents of foreign heritage in 2020.
